Full container

The acronym FCL stands for Full Container Load and means a complete load with one shipper and one consignee. It is an international ISO standard and involves the sending of a 20- or 40-foot container.

The advantages of full container shipments by sea are many:

• They guarantee the cheapest possible price, calculated per cubic metre of imported freight;
• It is a safe and fast method, since the container space will not be shared with other importers or shippers;
• It is possible to optimise the packaging and arrangement of goods so as to make maximum use of the space within the container.

Full container shipments by sea are the best solution for the maritime transport of products. Remaining inside the container for the entire journey means the freight is transported with greater safety. Furthermore, in FCL shipments, the distribution chain is simplified and each handling of the container is automated through the use of specific equipment. It is thus more precise, faster and better controlled.
